Mission Statement

 “Improving people’s mental health through game and interactive media.”

Mental health is more important now than ever; it impacts every area of our lives. What’s more staggering is how common mental health problem is:

  • More than 50% will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime.

  • 1 in 5 Americans will experience a mental illness in a given year.

  • 1 in 5 children, either currently or at some point during their life, have had a seriously debilitating mental illness.

 
Then, why games?

The latest research from Oxford University found that time spent playing games is positively associated with wellbeing. Playing games can be an activity that relates positively to people’s mental health (Oxford, 2020).

This is our raison d'être, the reason why we do what we do. We at Arkana Games believe that we could contribute to the world by improving people’s mental health through the game and interactive media we create. We want to be the one who turns on the light in people’s darkest times.

In games, you have goals and objectives to reach. Once you achieve them, they bring you a lot of satisfaction, which improves your overall well-being.

Mental Stimulation

Video games often make you think. When you play video games, almost every part of your brain is working to help you achieve higher-level thinking. 

Mental Recovery

Regardless of the type, playing games can help with trauma recovery. Video games can act as distractions from pain and psychological trauma.

Arkana Games is a creative and fun development studio, specializing in simulation games rooted in our own brand of silly humor! We’re a young, vibrant studio that has the added advantage of nursing veterans from some of the Indonesia's greatest game studios.

Our journey started in February 2021, when Billy Butcher, Adam Ghaviyasha, and Surya Asmoro met at the Indonesia Global Game Jam 2021. They talked after the event and found out that they just clicked. Then they decided to work together on a project.

 

We decided to create a game titled Bos Cupang, a fun clicker game where the players act as a betta fish store owner. The game received positive responses from the gamers so we decided to take the project to the next level.

On July 2022, Jessica decided to join as a co-founder and SVP of Operations, strengthen our capability to build games that have a lot less bugs. 

Currently, we are building Bos Neraka Tycoon, a comedy simulation game where the players can literally manage a hell, to help people to cope with stress at the workplace.
